LeRoy West,
ScSEED Secretary

LeRoy West joined the ScSEED board in 2025, bringing with him decades of experience in business, community development, and sustainability. He has spent much of his professional life working across corporate, entrepreneurial, and nonprofit sectors, with a focus over the past 20 years on efficient home building, renewable energy, and sustainable communities.

LeRoy moved to Crestone in 2021 in search of a smaller, nature-centered community. In the San Luis Valley, he found not only the beautiful mountains he was seeking, but a place where his personal values and professional experience could come together in meaningful ways.

A father of two and grandfather of four, LeRoy describes his life as one shaped by both outward exploration and inner growth. Years of meditation and spiritual practice have influenced his approach to leadership and community, grounding his belief that strong relationships are at the heart of lasting success.

His commitment to service in the Valley began soon after his arrival. In 2022, he joined the Baca Grande Property Owners Association board, where he has worked to encourage collaboration and strengthen connections among residents. That same spirit of community-building led him to ScSEED, where he saw an opportunity to contribute to both economic development and environmental stewardship across Saguache County.

LeRoy views the future of the San Luis Valley as deeply interconnected. He points to sustainable housing, local food systems, renewable energy, and improved transportation as key pillars of long-term economic vitality. He also emphasizes the importance of watershed restoration, noting that healthy water systems are foundational to agriculture, the local economy, and the region’s shared future.

For LeRoy, ScSEED’s work reflects a broader vision of unity across the Valley. He believes that by working together to care for the land and support local economies, communities throughout the region can build a resilient and sustainable future.
